Speaker: Rob Stoveken, HLSR Speakers Committee

About the speaker: Rob is a retired United States Marine, who is now an active community volunteer. A native Houstonian and Memorial High School (SBISD) graduate, who enlisted in the Marines on his 18th birthday, he served on active duty from 1984 to 2004. His Primary Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) was Combat Arms/Field Artillery; a dozen more MOS’s were added over time.

Upon completion of military service, at age 44, Rob enrolled in college. First graduating from San Jacinto College Central and then the University of Houston Clear Lake, graduating with a B.S. in Accounting & Finance.

Rob’s experience with the HLSR began as an elementary youth. First working a carpet booth in the old Astro Hall in the early 1970’s. Later, while on active duty stationed in Houston, Rob realized that the Marine Corps had little presence at HLSR. With the coordination and assistance of his command, the Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard first participated in the early 1990’s. Additionally, with District Command support, he facilitated the first Marine Corps Recruiting Booth in Reliant Center during the Show.

Since 2015, Rob has served on 4 HLSR committees and remains an active member of two currently.

  1. Gatekeepers from 2015 to 2020
  2. Calf Scramble Arena from 2018 to present
    * Recognized as the “2021 CALF SCRAMBLE ARENA COMMITTEE COMMITTEEMAN OF THE YEAR”
  3. Houston Metro Go Texan in 2022
  4. Speakers 2022 to present
    * Recognized as the “2023 SPEAKERS COMMITTEE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR”, as well as one of the committee’s 2023 Top Five Producers.

In addition to his active involvement in HLSR committees, Rob’s community involvement includes serving with the Safety Team and Outreach at Grace Church of Houston, Houston Children’s Charity, BakerRipley, and Team Rubicon.

In his spare time, he values activities of all types with his wife Jennifer Dugan Stoveken, also a member of the Speakers Committee, his son Cole, and their families.
